Oscar Alferez Jr.

The heart behind Oscar’s Table.

Oscar was a son, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and so much more to the people who loved him.

He was the kind of person who brought people together. He was deeply loved by his family, his friends, and his community, and if there was one thing Oscar knew how to do, it was make an impression. His presence was big, his heart was even bigger, and the people who knew him have stories about him that will be told for years to come.

Oscar was a hardworking man who spent more than 20 years as a pump operator, but the roles that mattered most were the ones he held outside of work. He was a father to nine children and a grandfather to a growing family of grandchildren who knew and loved him as Grandpa.

Family, friendship, gathering, laughter, and showing up for the people he loved were all part of who Oscar was.

A Life That Brought People Together

When Oscar passed away on January 26, 2025, the amount of love that surrounded our family showed us just how many lives he had touched.

People showed up. They donated. They helped. They gathered around our family. Together, our community helped us towards laying our dad to rest and celebrating his life.

During one of the most painful times our family had ever experienced, we learned just how powerful it can be when people simply show up for one another.

That spirit of community is something we want to carry forward through Oscar’s Table.

His Table Is Still Growing

Oscar’s Table isn't only named after Oscar.

It is a continuation of his legacy.

We hope that every meal provided, every table set, every room cleaned, every burden lifted, and every grieving family cared for through this organization will turn the love that surrounded our family into love for another.

Oscar may no longer be here to sit at the table with us, but through this mission, his table will always have room for someone who needs to be cared for.
